GRADUATION

I'm going back to old school blogging. The one's in which you just write because you feel like it or want to document something for yourself to look back on, rather than trying to write because you feel you need to or feel pressured to produce content 3-4 times a week. That's not really me, and as I now work crazy hours, I want to go back to how I originally started - just writing about my life and how I was at that particular moment in time.

Yesterday was my graduation, perhaps one of the proudest days of my life, and I wanted to collate some pictures on this little space of the internet. I had a really lovely day, but I'd be lying if I said it was all absolutely fantastic. I shared the day with my family, one in which is slightly mix 'n' matched now like many other step families these days. Unfortunately, it became too intense and I couldn't help but feel let down and disappointed by some immature behaviour displayed by some people. Maybe I expected too much and did wrong by having everyone there, but then again, I know I'd want to see my own child graduate with a first class degree. Perhaps we shouldn't judge everyone by our own standards.

That aside, I felt amazing. I was proud of myself and absolutely loved wearing the cap and gown. If When I decide to do a doctorate/PhD, I know I will soak up every moment in that outfit! The whole graduation day was a great experience and I loved being able to take photos on the beautiful Edge Hill campus. It just feels so odd that I may never go again!

I guess it's the end of an era now though and come January, I'll be off to Sri Lanka on a new adventure. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what the graduate life has to offer.

Aww so proud of you Sam! You look so beautiful in the photos, and are just glowing with pride and happiness which of course you 100 million % should be babe ;) Thrilled you had a wonderful day, although sorry you felt let down by some people. I hope they make it up to you in time, it was your day and they should have known better <3

Old school blogging is the best kind. I love that you want to blog for "you" and write when you want about what you feel. I never post more than once a week, sometimes not for a few weeks, and although I'd like to post more regularly, it would only feel forced and I'd rather spend more time on posts I love putting together than just post 3-4 times a week on something insignificant. Totally feeling you! :)

Woohoo, go Sam! Congratulations again, you should be very proud :) I know I am! Sorry some people weren't on their best behaviour, family isn't easy sometimes and it can be even more tricky when they're all split up.

And yes to old school blogging! x

YAAAAY! Congratulations, Sam!! It's a really big step into your future. And I absolutely support you with old school blogging, it gives more enjoyment and happiness than a constant blogging. I learn that already. I used to update my blog from the start with things 4-5 times a week just because I felt pressured but now I probably post 2 times a week or don't post at all and when I do I post about the things that I enjoy.

Also, a family can get quite a hassle. Especially if it's big. I am all for being for your family and putting it first before anything else (except yourself). But sometimes you just have to accept the fact that not everyone from your family is your family. There can be people with horrendous character and personality and can get immature and just straight rude, I'd say just let them go. If they can't be there for you, why should you? I have a friend which's one of the grandmothers are more than acceptable behaviour and she doesn't talk with her anymore. She is like a stranger to her. Sad, but that's what was supposed to happen. That grandmother doesn't even seem fazed by the fact, so I guess that's alright.

Also, totally with you on the blogging out of pressure to do it thing, the best posts are always the ones that you're passionate about and just fancy writing for you. :)

Congratulations on graduating. Graduations are so nice, the one day I really felt proud of myself. Such a shame some people let you down on that day when it is a day about you and not them.

Congratulations, Sam! There definitely is pressure when your family's around you during an event wherein you receive an academic award or any award for that matter, but, like you, I think I'd want to see my kid graduate (with a first class degree, go you!) too, haha.

Anyway, wishing you the best of luck if when you do your Doctorate (I'm sure you'll do amazing, anyway) and ah, the prospect of Sri Lanka sounds amazing!

You look so beautiful and you should be so, so proud of yourself. Don't ever let anyone get you down because you are wonderful and I know you're going to go so far in life. I think family can be a complete nightmare for most people and sometimes you just need to bear with it. Just don't forget that they all love you and I'm sure they were all bursting with pride to see you graduate, even if there were some little issues on the day :)

Its also so refreshing that you're going back to old school blogging, also I'm so jealous of your trip to Sri Lanka, I hope you have an amazing time :) x
