Not That Kind Of Girl

Not That Kind Of Girl by Lena Dunham

This book, written by Lena Dunham, is about Lena's life and what she's learned along the way. It contains short essays/stories about various aspects of life, for example night's out, diets, school life and relationships. The book is split into five sections - 1. Love & Sex 2. Body 3. Friendship 4. Work
and 5. Big Picture. In each section, Lena documents what she's learned, mostly through mishaps and embarrassing encounters!

I won't lie, I bought this book because it's received SO much attention from bloggers/youtubers so it had to be worth the hype, right? I resent spending too much on books so tend to keep them on my amazon wishlist until they drop in price, and I just to happened to check it when this was £1.99, so I snapped it up immediately!

I REALLY wanted to enjoy this book more than I did. I don't like negative reviews but I struggled to finish this book. I didn't really find it funny and I found her writing tone a little dull. There were some chapters that I enjoyed, mostly the first two, but after that the book just seemed to get progressively worse. I am under the impression that this book is similar to those written by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, and I was all for reading books by those too! However, I've been put off a little now.

I think what I've learned, is don't just buy a book because it's received a lot of 'hype'. Following the crowd gets you nowhere...!

Have you read this book? Is it just me that didn't really enjoy it?

I was so tempted to buy this book after seeing so many people rave about it, think I may just leave it now. There's nothing worse than not liking a book but being too far in to stop reading. (Serious first world problems, I know! Ha) Great post lovely lady :)

I've seen so much about this book, but beyond her name and her face I don't really know much about her or her work! xo
